Democracy is a battling of ideas not insult – MCE The municipal chief executive of the new Juabeng municipality in the Eastern region Hon. Okyere Kusi has hinted that democracy is the battling of ideas not insult and therefore Ghanaians should leave in unity, being tolerant and accommodative to each others peace so that conflict can be address. According to him, Ghanaians are one people with one country irrespective of individual political affiliation. “We are people and we all leave in one country called Ghana irrespective of our political affiliation and we need to be tolerant and accommodative to each others peace so that we can address conflict.” He said. He said this during the 32nd farmer’s day for the New Juabeng Municipality which was held at Osabene Islamic School Park a suburb in Koforidua in the eastern region. Speaking during the occasion, the out spoken MCE Hon. Okyere Kusi also elaborated on the need to focus on cultivating of high value crop processing aggravations farm produce and repackaging with good branding in order to add value to the aggravations farm produce. Meanwhile the New Juabeng Municipal Director for agriculture Mr. Kofi Amoako Tweneboa urged farmers to be conversant with practices such as fertilizer application, weed pest and diseases control as well as scientific animal techniques and should also prove that they are abreast with innovation with regard to improve practices, inputs and techniques which will increase agricultural productivity. He again indicated that farmers should be aware of factors such as control of bush burning, soil erosion and other soil and water management practices. The first farmer’s day was held in December 1989 at Osabene in the Eastern region which was first implemented by the ex-president His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings.
